HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Hey adventurers,

Hope you are having a lovely Halloween thus far!

Just a quick update, the next instalment of the Road Trip shall be up by the end of the week. Things have gotten a bit hectic since returning to work and I haven't had much down time but I am determined to get these finished by the end of 2017! Ideally I am aiming to publish a new post once a week (Every Friday), so we will see how well this pre-new years resolution turns out.

Bare With Me :)

My Ultimate Travel Playlist

Everyone knows that no good journey is complete without the sounds of an epic playlist of tunes. Since I love music, travelling and making playlists...and I have nothing else to do at the moment...I present to you 3 different playlists. One that is strictly for European Travel, one that is for road trips and finally the infinite playlist. Enjoy!

My Totally Clichéd but Freaking Awesome European Travel Playlist

Every good trip needs to begin with a pump up song to get you in the mood (not sexually, but there are definitely songs for that occasion as well... try Marvin Gaye or Frank Ocean if you want to set that type of mood *insert creepy winky face here*).

Pre-Travel Pump Up Song: You Make my Dreams Come True - Hall and Oates
I can just picture myself walking down the street grooving to this tune and matching my steps to the beat in the song...don't lie, so can you. It is impossible to listen to this song and not bust a move. IMPOSSIBLE I TELL YOU!

Now as you embark on your journey (whether by land, sea or air) you can begin your playlist. To begin, I will include some songs you need to listen to while you are wandering the streets of these fabulous European cities/countries and then I will get to the standard road trip tune-age.

I will begin with my FAVOURITE city in the whole wide world as it seemed fitting...

Location: London
Song of Choice: London Calling - The Clash

This absolutely clichéd song is an obvious choice for a trip into the glorious city that is London. Not London, Ontario my Canadian comrades... I am talking Big Ben, Union Jack and the gorgeous metropolis that is London, England. Listen to this song What a Girl Wants style on a red double decker tour bus or just walking down the street heading towards Piccadilly Circus, either way it is a MUST HAVE track on your music playlist.

Other Great Tune-age:
Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks
LDN - Lily Allen
For Tomorrow - Blue
A Rainy Night in Soho - The Pogues
Great DJ - The Ting Tings

Songs To Just Listen To, Enjoy and Appreciate In London Because The Band/Artist Is From There (as if you really need a reason to listen to these great songs) :
Youth - Daughter
Delivery - Babyshambles
Littlest Things - Lily Allen

Next we visit the sunny coast for a wee stroll down the pier to relax and soak up the rays (that's if it is not raining...).

Location: Brighton
Song of Choice: Seaside - The Kooks
C'mon, I seriously doubt I need to explain this one...

Other Great Tune-age:
She's So Lovely - Scouting For Girls
Fred Astaire - San Cisco
The Show - Lenka
Skip To The Good Bit - Rizzle Kicks
Sugar Mouse - Oh, Atoms
Lost Generation - Rizzle Kicks
Walk In The Rain - Passenger
Girls And Boys In Love - Rumble Strips
The Sun Never Sets Around Here - The Electric Soft Parade
Someday - The Strokes
Toothpaste Kisses - The Maccabees
In The Morning - Coral

Now it is off to the dark and beautiful city that is full of mystery and intrigue.

Location: Edinburgh
Songs of Choice: All The Little Lights - Passenger

Okay the reason I chose this song is NOT just because of the first line...if you have ever been in Edinburgh you would know how dark and gothic the streets are, even in the daylight. I felt that this song, while it has it's dark meaning laced in the lyrics, still has a brightness within his voice. It is a lot like Edinburgh; even the darkest and tallest of it's buildings cannot block out all the sunlight. Listen to this song while you are on top of Calton Hill, looking out over the vast city...it will be sure to pull on your heart strings.

Also now that you are in Scotland, it is a Right Of Passage to listen to Auld Lang Syne at least once.

After a short flight we arrive in the city famous for sex and coffee shops.

Location: Amsterdam
Song of Choice: Amsterdam - Imagine Dragons

Just a great song. There is nothing to be said other than that. I listened to this song in particular as soon as I stepped off the plane but it is also a great tune to play while you are biking around the city. You can also listen to Lustra's Scotty Doesn't Know if you are a huge Euro Trip fan like I am ;)

Tune-age That Seemed Fitting:
It's Growing - Garnet Silk
Jammin' - Bob Marley
Mary Jane - Ill Scarlett
Roxanne - The Police
One Love - Bob Marley
Ganja - Eminem
Santeria - Sublime
Knocking On Heavens Door - Ed Robinson
My Time - Barrington Levy

Let's move on to the City of LOVE <3 I have to say that I got a bit carried away as I fell in love with French music all over again while I was skimming through my music. Ahh L'Amour!

Location: Paris
Song of Choice: Sympathetique - Pink Martini
When I hear this song I think of shopping in the elegant boutiques that line the streets of Paris.

Song of Choice: Non Je Ne Regrette Rien - Edith Piaf
Listen to this as you are sitting at a romantic restaurant while the candlelight flickers...next to the water...in the moonlight (just to give you the proper atmosphere of course!)

Song of Choice: Je Suis Malade - Serge Lama
If you just want a song that hits you right in the feels. A song about heartache, ah so perfect in the city of Love.

Other Fabulous Tune-age:
Bistro Fada - Stephane Wrembel
You Do Something To Me - Conal Fowkes
La Vie En Rose - Edith Piaf
Si Tu Vois Ma Mère - Sidney Bechet
La Vie En Rose - Louis Armstrong
Je Suis Seul Ce Soir - Swing 41

And Even More:
Parlez-Moi D'Amour - Dana Boulé
On Attend - Suarez
Caravane - Raphaël
C'est Si Bon - Louis Armstrong
Ballad Du Paris - Francois Parisi
The Entire Amelie Soundtrack
(^^And I say this is a MUST. It is the perfect background music for every occasion and every moment that you have while in Paris. It has the romance, the heartbreak, the intrigue, the longing...Ahh Love <3 Also you must watch the movie, I STRONGLY recommend it! ^^)

~Coming Soon! Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain~
